Guango Lodge, Ecuador December 8, 2008

Guango is the lovely sister lodge to San Isidro, we stayed for a night on the way back to Quito. We arrived by bus, but a much easier transfer as Guango Lodge is right on the main road, not set back several miles like San Isidro. Wonderful humming birds everywhere, the sword billed is incredible. Carmen's Mom, Senora Bustamente and Byron who is their Administrator, the position I had at San Isidro, were warm and charming.

Female Tourmaline Sunangel.

Tropical Birding Tour led by Nick.

The dining room and lounge area at Guango. Great food!

Senora Bustamente and Byron very kindly drove us back to Quito in their truck,  along with Andre, a new friend we met at Guango.  Andre works for the Rainforest Alliance in Ecuador, teaches hotel management and his English was excellent.

Another beautiful unknown to me plant.

Papallacta River flowing next to Guango.

Another view of Guango Lodge from the trails and river area.

Much enjoyed fireplace as it was cold and rainy outside.

Entrance to the lodge rooms and dining room area with fireplace.

Cows on their own strolling on the main road where we waited for our bus from San Isidro.

Waiting for the bus.

On the road again.
Our departure point of Cosanga on the way to Guango.
